ArtPrize Update

Only 3 days left for voting on who should win the $250,000 and then it's down to the top 10! Be sure to get down to all the venues and find your favorites, then vote, vote, vote! Remember, you can vote for as many as you want during this first round but only one out of the top 10. Our family favorites are the Sharing Tree at Cathedral Square, Imagine That on the side of the Children's Museum, and The Furniture City Sets the Table for the World of Art on top of the Blue Bridge!! There are tons more all over the city, though, and some of the ones that are further out of the way are definitely worth checking out!!

Better Bake Sale House Party

Saturday, September 26 at 3pm I'm hosting a Better Bake Sale through HouseParty. HouseParty is an awesome way to get free stuff and have fun with friends. Basically, you apply to host a party - they have them all the time and they're all different - and wait to see if you're approved. Then they have you invite your friends, send you a party pack with all kinds of fun, free stuff, and sometimes ask you to do a quick survey afterward. It's really cheap advertising for whatever the product is and really free fun for you! You don't have to sell anything or try to get people signed up for anything and there's no exchange of money involved at all. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes in this party pack.

Parties I've had so far through House Party:

Juicy Juice - they sent us 15 water bottles, 15 tote bags, 15 decks of playing cards, 15 coloring books and activities, coupons for guests, and 8 containers of juice with cute napkins and cups for tasting! How fun is that?

Secret Life of the American Teenager - they sent us a DVD of the first episode of the season plus previews of 3 other ABC family shows, 15 pens, 15 notepads, 15 locker mirrors, 15 flip books, and 15 posters. Such an addicting show even though I'm way too old to be watching it!

Soy Joy - they sent us 70 soy joy bars!!, a yoga DVD, a Pilates DVD, a yoga mat, a headband, a giant water bottle, a magazine, a free subscription to another magazine, a book, and an apron. This was the best party pack so far!

Sign up and give it a try. You'll get some good stuff and have all kinds of fun!! Follow the link on the left!!

Grand Rapids Art Prize

Grand Rapids, Michigan will play host to artists from all over the world September 23, 2009 to October 10, 2009 as they display their pieces in hopes of winning the $250,000 top prize money. Pieces will be displayed at venues all over the city and anyone 16 years and older is able to vote for their favorite piece by registering at the event. The artists are already arriving and beginning to install their pieces and it is so exciting to see the transformations that are taking place. Find more details at http://www.artprize.org/grand-rapids and plan to attend and vote for your favorite piece!!

Of personal note, my very good childhood friend, Christina DeWitt, displays her piece "Manipulation" at Monroe Community Church (800 Monroe Ave NW Suite 140 Grand Rapids, MI 49503) and encourages viewers to touch and interact with the piece. Check it out and give it your vote during the event!!
